In 2018, McKinlay captained the successful Palmerston North Boys’ High School premier squad and was recognized for his exceptional skills by being named to the New Zealand secondary schools’ tournament team and the Junior Tall Blacks. After impressing on various fronts, McKinlay’s dedication and hard work paid off when he was re-signed by the Jets in February.
