During the 94th Annual Academy Award at Dolby Theatre on March 27, 2022, in Hollywood, California, Will Smith slapped Lola Simone Rock’s father Chris Rock after he made a joke about his wife Jada Pinkett-Smith.
It started when Lola Simone Rock father Chris Rock got on the stage to present the award, he shared his joke with the audience, he took a random dig at Jada about her bald head. At first, Will was laughed, but within a matter of seconds, Will stepped onto the stage and walked toward Lola’s father Chris Rock, and Slapped him in front of the audience.

Once Will got back to his seat, he yelled, “keep my wife’s name out of your f***ing mouth”. Jada was suffering from alopecia which cause hair loss and she had to cut her hair, so, it’s possible that Will thought that Chris’s joke crossed a line.
Will Smith Comforted
According to a Twitter source, Will Smith has been pulled aside and comforted by Denzel Washington and Tyler Perry during the next commercial break. They allegedly told Will to brush it off, as the actor – who went on to win the Best Actor Oscar for his role in King Richard -wiped tears from his eyes. He then sat back down next to Jada, who was being comforted by Denzel.
Later after, Will Smith won the Oscar for best actor for ‘King Richard’, He apologizes to all nominees.
LAPD said that Rock declined to press charges against Smith. They also said that “The individual involved has declined to file a police report. If the involved party desires a police report at a later date, LAPD will be available to complete an investigative report.”
